Mother Pia Teacher
Email Mrs. Stehr
Hello! My name is Maryanne Stehr. I have been blessed to be a part of the St. Elizabeth family for many years. I began my teaching in the 3rd Grade Silver Room in 1991. In 1993, driven by my masters in Special Education, I felt compelled to serve students who learn differently. Feeling strongly that any student interested in a Catholic education- regardless of his/her special learning needs- should be allowed that education, I teamed up with Sr. Kathleen Marie Ramirez OP to found the Special Needs Program at St. Elizabeth. We began with 10 students, and in 10 years, we were serving over 150 St. Elizabeth students and families through modified classes, small group resource, Student Study Team meetings, on site counseling and case management. I left St. Elizabeth in 2001 to spend more time with my own 2 children, and my husband, Michael.
When I returned in 2009, I became a teacher in the Mother Pia/Special Needs Program, now under the talented direction of Mrs. Kelly McConnell. I was so pleased to find the program grown and thriving. The Mother Pia program has been my adult-life’s work. I am so honored to remain a part of its current and future success. I am honored, as well, to teach the beautiful children of St. Elizabeth each day- focused on our Mother Pia Mission: To teach the whole child- academically, emotionally and spiritually- when they need something different.
